I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, so I still root for the Pittsburgh sports teams, although I have been in the Northern Virginia area long enough now that, if the Washington teams are not playing Pittsburgh, I root for them.
I have traveled all over the country since I was a kid. I have been in every State of the country except Alaska (only because once I got to Hawaii I kept going back there). I’ll get to Alaska one of these days.
I am married (Debra) with no kids but we do have a Boston Terrier (the first officially recognized United States dog breed). We both love BTs.
I am a fan of classic rock and have finally begun to learn guitar, getting lessons from an instructor who actually comes to the house every week.
Running was my main form of exercise and I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2012. Due to health setbacks, the amount of running I do now is greatly reduced but I am working on getting my volume back up to a reasonable level.
I love to read and on average finish at least 20 books a year, I am a graduate of Alma College (in Michigan) with a B.A. in History so much of my reading focuses on historical writing especially Eric Larson, David McCullough, Les Standiford, and T.J. English.
